The summer season of 2022 has already started with the people increasingly making their appearance in Sithonia (Halkidiki) and flooding their favorite places.
In fact, we have already entered the heat of summer, and soon there will be even more people and traffic.
So obviously, the summer population of Halkidiki is multiplying significantly, thus the needs, mainly in health, are particularly increased too. Summer is a critical time when, unfortunately, unexpected events may occur that require immediate medical attention and perhaps the transport to the nearest hospital or health center.
The municipality of Sithonia and specifically the municipal unit of Toroni faces a serious problem in terms of health, as its settlements and villages are among the most remote areas from the nearest health center and hospital.
Emergency Call in Greece: 166
In case a resident of Sykia, for example, needs medical treatment, they should go to the Agios Nikolaos Health Center, which is 60 km away, for primary care, while an ambulance may take up to an hour and a half to reach Sykia.
Having in mind all the above and the only priority is human life, the new authorities of Sithonia have raised this issue as their first concern and have achieved it through a systematic effort!
So this year Sithonia will be reinforced with two EKAB ambulances.
Specifically, for the second year in a row, the administration of the municipality of Sithonia, realizing the needs in the issue of care and health in the municipal unit of Toroni, strengthened the area with a crew of EKAB (AMR) and an ambulance.
Health Center of Agios Nikolaos
The municipality of Sithonia even proceeded to support the Health Center of Agios Nikolaos by offering another crew of EKAB (AMR) and an ambulance for the area of Agios Nikolaos, Neos Marmaras, Nikiti, and Metaggitsi.
According to information from XalkidikiPolitiki, the coverage of the expenses for the provision of ambulance and crew are now covered by the municipality of Sithonia through its budget.
It is said that starting with July 1, both in the area of Toroni and the municipal unit of Sithonia, EKAB (AMR) will be in the areas to provide the best possible health care services to residents and visitors.
