Sarti summer
Like the rest of Halkidiki, Sarti has grown significantly in the last decade. This peaceful small village is transforming into a true tourist destination in the summer, with a settlement set along the 3 km long beach, growing numbers of children’s playgrounds, and a variety of other facilities aimed toward family vacations.
Although there are only about 1500 residents, this small town hosts tens of thousands of tourists throughout the summer season.
Sarti is around 140 kilometers away from Thessaloniki
Those who visit Sarti on a regular basis observe how quickly the infrastructure improves each year. Sarti, located just over an hour’s drive from Thessaloniki, currently offers all the amenities of a great summer tourist destination. With a variety of markets, dozens of taverns and restaurants, many bars and beach bars, a few night bars, as well as some medical offices, grocery stores, bakeries, etc. you will definitely not miss anything in Sarti!
All of this is so lovely and well-designed to blend into this small seaside town that you are bound to relax in during your summer holiday.
Also, Sarti beach is a special story: it is sandy, 3 km long, with a large shoal in the new part, ideal for families with children. Huge waves can hit Sarti for a few days in a row, but the local authorities keep the beach well-organized and provide early warnings.
Two parts of Sarti: old and new
After a few days in Sarti, as you slowly begin to explore the village, you will see unique little houses in the old part of Sarti that appear to be from another era. And they really are; these are the first homes built by refugees that came there from Asia minor in 1922. Every house tells its own story for everyone who enjoys history. Upon arriving the refugees also built a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary which stands proudly in the middle of old Sarti today. There is a square nearby with shops, restaurants, and other summer joys.
Further along the beach, Sarti flows into a new settlement simply called New Sarti, mostly consisting of new accommodation, hotels, and beach bars. Its beach is amazing and, contrary to Sarti beach, very shallow and safe.
This tourist gem, located on the eastern part of the Sithonia peninsula and facing Mount Athos, is a major tourist destination
This charming mix of a rapidly developing tourist destination and a beach that is often called the Caribbean of Europe, seasoned with a touch of history, will surely enchant you and invite you to come back to it the following year!
