Toroni Gets Temporary Bridge After Storm Damage (PHOTO)

Toroni, Sithonia – March 27, 2025: A temporary Bailey bridge is being installed in Toroni after Storm Bora destroyed the old bridge.

This will restore road access between Toroni and Sykia.

Army Engineers Lead the Project

The 723rd Army Engineering Battalion handles the installation, ensuring safe travel for residents and vehicles. The Regional Unit of Halkidiki requested the bridge as a quick solution until a permanent one was built.

Officials Thank the Armed Forces

Deputy Regional Governor Katerina Zografou visited the site, thanking the Armed Forces for their support. She stated: “Restoring daily life for our residents was a priority. We appreciate the quick response in making travel safe again.”

What is a Bailey Bridge?

Bailey bridges were first used in World War II. They are strong, easy to set up, and commonly used for temporary road repairs.

Conclusion

This bridge will help Sithonia recover from storm damage and improve travel in the area. Stay updated at VisitSithonia.com.
