Homemade octopus
Equipment
- Casserole dish
Ingredients
- 1 fresh octopus
- 200 ml grape vinegar
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- Peppercorns
- bay leaves
Instructions
- Wash and clean the octopus. Place it in a deep saucepan and add vinegar and wine. Cook for 40 minutes – 1 hour until soft (check with a fork) over low heat. Make sure that there is always liquid during cooking.
- Add peppercorns and bay leaves.
- After it is cooked, drain the liquid and let it cool.
- Cut and pour on top with olive oil and vinegar.

Octopus meat contains a large amount of protein, useful elements (magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, copper, selenium, and manganese), vitamins of group B, A, C, E, K, PP, as well as omega-3 and phosphoric acid. It is rich in octopus meat and zinc, which inhibits the aging process of the skin.
Perfectly cooked octopus is a favorite dish of the Greeks in traditional taverns, however, you can cook octopus at home just as well as professional chefs.
