Fava Beach: A Hidden Gem of Sithonia, Greece

Fava Beach is a lesser-known beach in Vourvourou, but its beauty is not behind the famous beaches. It consists of three somewhat larger bays and several smaller ones. It is a well-kept secret of the locals in Vourvourou, where they take refuge from the crowds and enjoy the beauty of its sea and nature. If you love swimming and enjoying the beautiful beach without the crowds, music, and too many sunbeds, visit Fava and have a great relaxing day.

Location

Fava Beach is located 51 km southeast of Poligiros and close to Vourvourou, a popular tourist resort in the peninsula of Sithonia with an incredible landscape of forested mountains. The beach is surrounded by greenery and some of the most amazing rock formations. The clear waters are ideal for swimming and they are shallow enough to swim up to the weird rock islands that are scattered just about 100 m from the shore.

Direction: Karydi Beach – Fava Beach

You can reach Fava Beach by going straight to where the turn for Karydi Beach is. After you arrive at the parking of Karydi, continue to the south and drive until you run into the large group of private houses in a pine forest with large family villas. When you get to an intersection, extend the left, and after 50 to 100m path forks, go right to the coast. The place is called Fava and the beach is usually visited only by locals and tourists, so usually it is not crowded. You will see the sign for Fava Beach, so we are sure that you wonโ€™t miss it. The beach can be accessed by car at about 50m. The footpath will lead you to the first bay quite wide, and with a stroll along the water, you can reach the other two. Left and right of the central bay there are several smaller ones, which you can isolate if you come early.

Discover the unique beauty of Fava: Nature’s art with rocks, soft sandy beaches, and crystal blue sea!

Fava Beach is very close to Karydi Beach, but unlike Karydi, it has no long shallow, gradual depth and is best suited for swimmers. Also, unlike Karydi which is always calm, you will often encounter waves on Fave. The coast is sandy with rocks, while the sea bottom is rocks and after that, the fine sand. In the back of the beach are beautiful and luxurious villas of wealthy Greeks, mainly from Thessaloniki. The beach is not organized – there are no chairs, no umbrellas or bars, so you need to take with you the equipment, along with food and water. The coves are divided by rocks, and in some coves, you can find rocks on the beach itself. You can find natural shade in the afternoon when the rocks make it.

Fava Beach, located in Sithonia, Greece, is a secluded paradise boasting 500 meters of crystal blue waters and the prestigious Blue Flag certificate. Enjoy a peaceful day away from the crowds and bask in the sun surrounded by the most amazing rock formations.
