Did you know there is a hidden beach on Sithonia where the local Greeks throw the best daytime parties? Located 20 km south of Neos Marmaras (5 km north of Toroni), Aretes Beach is a destination where young locals, and those who feel young at heart, enjoy great entertainment, Greek music, and socializing.
Aretes Beach: Hidden Beach for Enjoyment
Aretes Beach is a sandy beach, about 250 meters long, with fine sand, turquoise blue sea, and one of the most beautiful sunsets in Sithonia. The beach is still not popular for mass tourism and foreign tourists because it is a bit further from the main tourist spots in Sithonia. Moreover, the last few hundred meters of the road to the beach are not paved, but it is still quite accessible by car. On the southern part of the beach is an excellent fresh fish Taverna Apostolos, which we highly recommend for lunch or dinner right on the beach.
BARbatolis or Aretes Beach Bar
On the northern part of the beach is what makes this beach truly unique – Aretes Beach Bar (or BARbatolis) and its owner Xeneth Manolof, who with his great energy creates the best atmosphere for fun on the beach. With reasonably priced drinks and food, Greek music, and a beach bar full of cheerful local Greeks, you will enjoy this place and surely make new friends. The owner is quite popular among the local Greeks who either live in Sithonia or have moved away, so this has become a gathering place for all Greeks connected to Sithonia. This does not mean that other guests won’t have a great time at this unique beach bar. On the contrary, once you visit this place, you will always come back.
As the day slowly progresses, the music and chatter from Aretes Beach Bar become louder, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the peace of this beautiful beach. You can certainly lay your towels anywhere on the 250-meter-long Aretes Beach and enjoy this unique beach in peace, without having to party.
Boats cruising around Sithonia also dock at the beach, adding to the atmosphere and party vibe on the beach.
