If you are among the lucky ones who chose Greece for this yearโs holiday destination,ย you can find the basic information about entering the country so you can have an enjoyable and safe stay.
First of all, all the travelers arriving in Greece must haveย a negative PCR certificate for a Covid-19 test taken no later than 72 hours before arrival or a negative antigen (rapid) certificate taken no longer than 48 hours before arrival.
This test is mandatory for all adults and children older than the age of 12 no matter what country you are arriving from.
The only way you donโt need to show the proof of the test is in case you have completed your vaccination (14 days after the last vaccination, depending on the doses required) and can provide a vaccination certificate. It is not a preferable way to get into the country but it will fasten the procedure greatly for you.
Acceptable vaccines are: Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna, Astra Zeneca/Oxford, Novavax, Johnson + Johnson/Janssen, Sinovac Biotech, Gamaleya (Sputnik), Cansino Biologics, Sinopharm among others.
In case you were tested positive with COVID-19 in the past 2 to 9 months, you can show only a medical certificate confirming that.
It is also important to know that, no matter which of these certificates you have, you might undergo a random mandatory health screening. If you refuse, you might be denied entry into the country.
There is further good news for you today: after the steady drop in new cases, Greece has decided to ease more restrictions, the first one being wearing masks outdoors. You still need to wear one indoors and in very crowded places but you can now be free to show your smile to everybody outside!
