Today I visited Polygyros, the capital of Halkidiki. Polygyros is located approximately in the center of the Halkidiki peninsula. It is built at an altitude of 500-560 meters on the southeast side of a basin at the foot of Mount Holomontas.
I met Antonis, the owner of the local Vasilikis Soapery, to share with me his family business with his grandfather Antonis. The local Soapery started in 2013 in Polygyros Halkidiki’s, at grandpa Antonis’ hut. This hut, dating back to 1939, is surrounded by thousands of naturally growing olive trees with a view to Kassandra Bay, (the first peninsula of Halkidiki), Pelion – the mount of Centaurs, and Olympus – the mount of Gods.
In Antoni’s family, they have been olive tree cultivators and olive oil producers way back in time, the olive oil being a life-giving product that nurtured countless generations. Their passion and love for nature and the Greek soil’s pure natural products inspired Antoni’s family handmade soap made of olive oil, ideal for those seeking exceptional 100% natural products.
The soaps are 100% natural, with no color additives, no preservatives, and chemical-free. With a high concentration in olive oil and the addition of certified essential oils, wild herds collected on mount Holomon, pure monastery honey, honeycomb, propolis, and royal jelly, Soapery offers a complete line of soap products for hair, face, and body care. Thanks to its pure, natural ingredients soaps are ideal even for baby skincare.
Each bar of soap is special, as it is produced, stamped, and wrapped by hand, one by one, so that what you get is a unique product.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, for a day visit to the Local Soapery in Polygyros for a true story with Antonis and a tour of the olive trees and the factory.
