Sithonia, Halkidiki – On July 27, 2023, Sithonia faced a challenging situation as two additional fires erupted in the region, following the previous blaze that occurred between Nikiti and Metamorfosi.
According to reports from XalkidikiPolitiki, one fire is currently spreading toward Agios Nikolaos, with the flames advancing above the settlement’s intersection. Simultaneously, another fire is heading towards Vourvourou, in the vicinity of a supermarket along the roadway.
While the initial fire that ignited near Nikiti and Metamorphosis has been successfully contained, the Fire Service has reinforced its presence on-site to address any remaining hotspots and prevent reignition.
Emergency services remain actively engaged in combating the newly emerged fires. Additional firefighting teams are being deployed to tackle the ongoing incidents and mitigate the risk to local communities and properties.
