The World Travel Awards has declared winners for 2022 and, to no surprise, the winner of the “Greece’s Leading Mainland Destination 2022” category is Halkidiki!
Based on the general satisfaction index (GRI) of international destinations in the “sun and sea” model, Halkidiki has been given the title of “Greece’s Leading Mainland Destination 2022”. The efforts of the Tourist Organization of Halkidiki in constant collaboration with professionals in the hospitality and catering industries, the Municipalities, and all those involved in the Halkidiki tourism industry for the continuous upgrading of the tourist services are rewarded and produce noticeable results.
The World Travel Awards, the “Oscars” of the travel industry, recognized Halkidiki as the top “Greece’s Leading Mainland Destination” twice in the last three years
Mr. Grigoris Tassios, president of the Halkidiki Tourism Organization, said: “Nothing compares to Halkidiki, especially with its recent global accreditation. Our efforts are bearing fruit, and our prefecture is getting even better. The award from the World Travel Awards, the most prestigious tourist organization, represents the highest level of distinction for Halkidiki because it is the outcome of a vote by the public and tourism industry. It supports our conviction that Halkidiki can take the lead in the global tourist sector by providing a variety of vacation options and distinctive experiences.”
The World Travel Awards, an international organization that has been in operation since 1993 and honors the industry’s leaders, are now acknowledged as the travel industry’s undisputed global brand.
Numerous Greek hotels gained distinctions in the same institution. One of them is the SANI resort in Halkidiki, which was recognized for the fourth consecutive year, demonstrating the strength of the Greek hotel industry on the international stage.
