The statement is being transmitted in its entirety:
“To all of you
who have supported us from the very beginning, the audience of dance scene, the presale ticket holders, all of you who have become friends and partners, we are in the unfortunate position to announce the postponement of this year’s Halkidiki Dance Festival due to force majeure. A destructive force that plagues the region and the entire country.
Due to the high risk of fire, the authorities revoked the permits for outdoor events.
We assure you that we have done what is humanly possible, we have struggled to find alternatives or provide assurances and measures to minimize the risk but after the disaster that hit the country, in forest areas, properties, and even human lives, no one is willing to take
Such a responsibility. It was deemed safer or in any case easier not to allow us under any circumstances to hold the festival in the agreed location.
On our side we were on the final countdown, the artists had been paid in full, the
necessary constructions had already begun to build and were within the stipulated time of
implementation, all the necessary staff had been found and were ready to move
in the area for the preparation in the following days. Nobody could predict that things
can go so wrong apart from the expected little problems that always appear in projects of this size. The damage is huge both financially as well as psychologically but the worst of all is this moment, when we have to announce something so unpleasant to all of you who have stood by us for so long
and you have been anxiously waiting these days to recharge your batteries.
As for most of you, for us this was also the only event of the summer we’ve been looking forward to.
We ask for your patience and understanding regarding procedural matters. There will long talks and difficult decisions to be made about how we will handle this as the production team. We will update everyone as often as possible through our website and facebook group.
