Elevated Risk Due to Heat Stress Expected on Wednesday, July 10, 2024
According to the latest available estimates from the HEAT-ALARM system, increased danger due to heat stress is expected on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in the northern, central, and western parts of mainland and island Greece, as well as in islands of the Eastern Aegean.
The following map shows that the regional units expected to be most affected, reaching extreme danger levels, include Kavala, Halkidiki, Kilkis, Pella, Imathia, Pieria, Thesprotia, Corfu, Ilia, Messinia, Samos, Ikaria, and Kalymnos.
Persistently High Temperatures Expected on Thursday and Friday
Very hot weather conditions for the season, both during the day and night, are expected on Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12, 2024. This will result in maintaining the danger due to heat stress at very high to extreme levels in the island and coastal Western Greece, the Eastern Aegean, and the northern and central mainland.
Strong Winds to Affect Heat Stress Levels
Strong northward winds prevailing over the Aegean and the eastern mainland parts of the country are expected to help keep the danger due to heat stress at relatively low levels (moderate to high) throughout the three days from July 10-12, 2024, in these areas. These areas include Eastern Attica, the Cyclades, and Crete.
